No Horse Racing Day
No Horse Racing Day September 10th 2025
A huge announcement from the British Horseracing Association (BHA) has hit the wires. This has a big affect in the Horse Racing World. A single No Horse Racing Day scheduled for September 10th. The tracks in Great Britain are canceling and rescheduling races for the day.
Part of a Special BHA Campaign
The association is doing this in an attempt to raise awareness for a special campaign. Their campaign “Axe The Racing Tax”. This is in protest to the government planning on raising the horse racing tax 15%.
The state is saying the tax increase will be completely absorbed by the bookies. BHA disputes this and is trying to stop it.

What Races Are Affected
Many may see the date as very interesting. The the 10th is the day before the 4 day St Leger festival at Doncaster Racecourse. The following racecourses affected listed below. Many are calling this No Horse Racing Day on September 10.
- Lingfield Park
- Carlisle
- Uttoxeter
- Kempton Park
Just in case you had planned on visiting the races that day. Or if you planned on betting on those specific races, be sure to carefully check the schedules at the parks or racebook.
Unprecedented and Unique
This is unprecedented in that there has never been a call for such a day where there would be a no horse racing day in the UK.
Special Meeting by the BHA
The BHA has scheduled a meeting in Westminster where they will discuss what they see as a threat by the Treasury proposal. Meetings will be attended by senior officials, trainers, owners as well as jockeys.
It is estimated that the horse racing world industry is worth £4.1 billion to the UK economy.

You can read the statement and release by the BHA BHA statement.
No Horse Racing Day Not Publicized
Looking at a few of the affected tracks we noticed that not enough of them have place a prominent notice on their sites. Guessing it is still somewhat of a shock the tracks did not see coming. We would prefer they would have made better notice on their sites. Hopefully they are blocking ticket sales etc for the days affected.
Conclusion to No Horse Racing Day
We were actually quite surprised by this move and honestly never thought this would happen. To see a call for a single day where racing is canceled anywhere in the Horse Racing World is a bit of a shock.
Whether the BHA is successful in defeating the tax increase, or even reducing it we wish them some success. Clearly this will raise a lot of awareness and we hope that it dopes not harm track visitors severely.
